He's sorry? Well, that's different! 30 days of highway cleanup, next case!

Cases like these showcase the pure selfishness of people. He murdered someone and all she can think about is how it affects her. Sure, she wants the minimum sentence for her son, but to just publicly stick it in the faces of the murdered guy's family like that?

Made me think of the worst example of this. Out here in 1999 some prankster teenagers stole a guy's plastic pumpkin on Halloween and after being chased by somebody else they drove back by his house, he came out with a gun, pointed it inside the driver's side window and shot the driver in the head, killing him.

He went on trial (ended up doing six years for manslaughter), and during it his wife went up to the family of the guy who was killed and said, "Can't we just put this behind us?" Holy shitballs.

Even the defense's own witnesses said that Carmelo was the instigator and agreed he was in the wrong. Why can't the black community just act like normal human beings and show remorse and apologize that this person was murdered in cold blood. Even if the white student had pushed him around to try to make him leave the athletic tent, doesn't give Carmelo the right to stab him through the heart. I just think the black community's reaction is to the verdict is abhorrent. Kind of like I felt after the OJ Simpson verdict.

I hope it isn't a "black community" thing and just random dumbasses, which unfortunately are of large number. You can sit there and talk about a history of oppression and so forth, but when it comes to an individual act you're either smart about it or stupid about it.

Just read where his mother said "He didn't mean to hurt him". When you pull out a knife on purpose and stab someone in the chest on purpose, what else could you possibly mean to do, give him a boner?

Just heard for the first time the comments that Texas Rep Jasmine Crockett made. She compared Anthony to George Floyd, expressed that the knife was a tiny Swiss Army knife and spouted this doozy: "If a 300-pound man is beating me, like on top of me and beating me down, I'm not limited to fists". Jesus Murphy, what a stupid broad.

Do you think it's stupid to raise this hypothetical about self defense?

Or do you think it's stupid to exaggerate what should be factual matters (i.e., from what I can tell she minimized the size of the knife and at least suggested that the white kid was a lot bigger than he was).

It's stupid to raise a hypothetical about self defense in relation to Karmelo Anthony and his low IQ, low impulse control dumbass who was loitering in a tent at a track meet that he wasn't associated with who when asked to leave did what low IQ, low impulse control people do.

Black people are 14% of the population that are responsible for ~50% of violent crime/homicide.

Do you understand da maff?

We're not talking about self defense. So, yes, it's a stupid hypothetical to raise. And yes it's stupid for her to exaggerate when it was already not applicable.

If she had blurted this out right after it happened without knowledge of the facts, it might be understandable although someone in her position still should know better. But since she had a lot of time to process this and she still somehow said what she did, she's a complete blithering idiot and there's no second side to that story.

Exactly.
