Facing the worst starting pitcher in the major leagues tonight. In 34 career innings over two seasons he has an ERA of 8.21 and a WHIP of 1.824. What's weird is that in 86 innings in the minors he has an ERA of 2.20 and a WHIP of 0.872, totally lights-out. He did have his first good start against the Oriholes five days ago with six one-hit innings. Just our luck he's pulling his head out of his ass.

So even yesterday with breaking the three-run streak the offense got 13 hits, four walks, got on twice on Indian errors, and still only scored five runs while leaving 14 men on base. Just a complete clown show. NO other team does this, not even the Crockies.

Since five runs is decent but not a hell of a lot, I wonder what the all-time Mariner streak is for scoring five runs or less is? The 1988 and 2015 teams managed to bookend their streaks with games where they scored more than five runs. The 2010 team had a 19-game streak and that likely is the record.

Kirby is an action pitcher.... generates most hits, most double plays, most strikes....everyone knows he's throwing a fast ball, everyone knows it's gonna be in the strike zone
