Johnson was born on September 10, 1963, in the San Francisco Bay Area suburb of Walnut Creek, California, to Carol Hannah and Rollen Charles "Bud" Johnson.[2] At Livermore High School, he was a star in baseball and basketball, though he was cut from the school basketball team his junior year for failing to run a six-minute mile. As a senior in 1982, he struck out 121 batters in 66+2⁄3 innings and threw a perfect game in his last high school start. He threw approximately 90 mph (140 km/h) and was imposingly tall, though he felt he was not the best pitcher in his league.[3][4][5] After high school, the Atlanta Braves selected Johnson in the fourth round of the 1982 MLB draft, but he did not sign, choosing instead to attend college.
How the hell did wild Randy pitch a perfect game?
By the way, did anyone else watch Randy take a no-hitter into the top of the ninth inning against the Oakland A’s?
He was the one guy I would pay to see.
I had tickets in box seats in between first and shallow right field.
Who broke up the no-hitter?
You can’t cheat.
