I have the BEST idea ever. Since great hitters like Edgar Martinez and Kevin Seitzer have coached these guys to the worst batting average in all of Major League Baseball, why don't we try the opposite approach and hire another Mariner legend famous for being the opposite of that: Mario Mendoza.

Seriously. Since our players are so resistant to the coaching of guys known for hitting over .300, maybe they'll do likewise to the coaching of a guy known for (and whom the famous line is named after) hitting under .200

You can't look me in the eye and tell me that this isn't the greatest idea in baseball history.
That is really funny, like the mad genius, why didn’t I think of that?

Do they really think this will make a difference?

How many fans do they believe will think.... finally, something is happening..... the front office is finally taking control and doling out punishment?

This is a pity firing and nothing more. It's an attempt to try to appease the fans into believing they are trying to make a change.
(but you all already know this)

So, here is my question......:

Just how many of our players have their own hitting instructor?
I know J-Rod does.

In all seriousness tho, this reminds me of Stink going public with the question....does Russ Wilson realize his bullshit is costing people in bs, when the Coaches in Denver got fired.

These guys forgetting how to hit a fucking baseball cost a man who, ball all accounts, was very well liked. Joke show. No one in baseball gets the bat on plane, they all upper cut and wonder why they suck. They all swing from their ass for home runs and wonder why they suck. But this man is the one that suffers?

Only if they hire Jack Perconte to be his assistant.
Yes, they really need a health and wellness coach!

They kind of did that by hiring Dan Wilson....

I hear Pete O'Brien is available. Maybe Darnell Coles? How about Todd Cruz?

At this point they could hire the Ghost of Fernando Valenzuala. That dude showed more promise in his at bats than many of these losers.

Eric Byrnes can be the bunting instructor.

Amazing that there's no video of his infamous suicide squeeze "attempt" (except this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcoXTvXWyrA, they really should have the entire sequence posted).

For those who have forgotten, in 2010 against the Rangers the Mariners had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the 11th in a 0-0 game. The Mariners called for a suicide squeeze bunt, Ichiro broke for home, Byrnes squared around to bunt, and then...pulled the bat back on a pitch that was about six inches outside and Ichiro was hung out to dry. Ranger manager Ron Washington came out to argue that it should have been a strike because he couldn't believe that someone would actually do that and got tossed. Byrnes then struck out, the Mariners ended up losing 2-0 in 12 innings, and then immediately after the game Byrnes got on a bicycle and rode out into the rain. Two days later he was DFA'd.

And Casey Kotchman can be the baserunning coach. Also in 2010 in a game in Detroit, Mike Zunino hit what should have been an inside-the-park home run, yet somehow Kotchman who had been on first got thrown out at the plate.

Kotchman also once got thrown out at the plate trying to score from third...on a base hit.
