MLB Trade Deadline Plan 3.0
Re: MLB Trade Deadline Plan 3.0
I’ll chime in here because it seems that the dust is settling on the brouhaha.
Regarding the plan (the reason SoB posted in the first place) - I don’t hate it. I kind of like it. But I find all of the trades highly unlikely. They feel a little like video game trades to me. For example, no one is taking Castillo with if 6-ish ERA, an aging 30-something arm, and a hefty contract. Unless we eat most of it, no one wants him, even with a few prospects.
Second, I don’t have access to a trade calculator, so I don’t know how realistic any of them are from that perspective. So yeah…no comment.
Regarding SoB - I have no specific beef with him. He can be prickly and opinionated, but I appreciate the effort and research he puts into his trade proposals. I find a lot of us snipe and troll trade proposals that folks put together without making any effort to come up with some of our own. Try putting a few of them out there for mass consumption (and praise or criticisms from others) - be vulnerable. Maybe we will be more judicious in the feedback we give to others.
In addition, I think we all have a little of our authentic personality that comes out in posting on a forum. But I think we also have a little false bravado that comes with anonymity. I take most of that with a grain of salt. Frankly, I’d love to sit down and have a beer or ten with just about everyone on this forum (except the bots) and have an actual conversation in the flesh.
Finally, as tolerant as I try to be, I have little latitude for accepting wishes of bodily harm. I think we can express our discontent, frustration and general pissy-ness without resorting to wishing harm on someone we have never met and hardly know.
That’s all I have to say on that. If any of you all are in my neighborhood, stop by for a cold one. We will talk baseball, armchair manage the Mariners, and drown our sorrows in the inevitable loss of the game that’s on.

Re: MLB Trade Deadline Plan 3.0
Someone on X posted a fantasy trade a few days ago that would have the Mariners swapping something (I think it was Hancock and a prospect) to the Rockies for Kyle Karros, which I thought was kind of interesting. Not knowing a thing about Karros and curious if he can actually play third base, I poked around and found some old prospect reports that seem to indicate that yes, he can actually play the position defensively. He even got himself a minor league gold glove at one point!
And early results in the majors seem to indicate that he can hit as well. Also, his home/away splits are about as good as you'll ever get from a Coors Field guy.
If I were in the Mariners front office, this is something I would be doing homework on at least. Realistically, it's a longshot. Teams almost never trade these players. However, there is a new front office in Colorado that could be willing to look at Karros as currency to bring in a haul. It would obviously take a lot more than Hancock and a prospect.

And even though I then complimented him and gave him thumbs-up. I'm offended.![]()
We've got a pretty good forum here with enough active members, even with the one non-firing piston in our powerful engine. Personally, other than that guy (who's employing playground psychology by calling me a narcissist which he's been referred to as numerous times in the Political Forum), I like everyone here including Bruce, who I think I met at Darren's.
Donn; is a dipshit that I try to avoid.
SOB; although his opinion is rough and mean, I believe the world would be a better place if he (SOB) wasn't in it.
PBJ; needs to be heavily medicated before he hurts himself.
The rest of you are great!!
-Well, maybe not all of you, but at least the rest of you are tolerable.

You mean well and thanks for chiming in, but some people unfortunately are like Terminators: they can't be reasoned with, they can't be bargained with, they feel no pity and they feel no remorse. You're talking about a guy who started a thread called "Baseball players are pussies", recently posted "I hate people", cusses up a raging storm at people in this Forum and the Political Forum, and just called me an awful human being and wished harm on me just because I said his trade ideas were unrealistic (and they aren't).
As far as the players involved, I'm surprised you like them as none of them would be a positive for us if we acquired them save for Bonemer who at this time is in AA...and you're not going to get him for a SP on pace for 3.5 WAR having his first good season in the Show.

He hit well in the minors and it's surprising that at Colorado he hasn't really taken off, even as a second-year player. I doubt that they'd trade him because he's young and certainly capable.D-train wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2026 2:05 pm92 career OPS+ for Karros..GL_Storm wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2026 7:46 amSomeone on X posted a fantasy trade a few days ago that would have the Mariners swapping something (I think it was Hancock and a prospect) to the Rockies for Kyle Karros, which I thought was kind of interesting. The forum is interesting and entertaining.
Thx for the trade ideas!
When we had spring training in Arizona you had guys that said such vile things to each other on the forum
act like real human beings and friends in person. Complete opposites on the political and social specturm. Ha!
I think there is more trade activity in here vs. freakin Jerry on the market right now.
That is the sad state of affairs.
Only a few days left. We need a spark to turn this season around!
