Some pretty impressive OPS's in there

And the White Sox are taking on $30M? Seems like a W
Domingquez is owed $20M so we are only saving $10M He isn't great but not terrible. I love the trade. Kudos to Jerry as much as it pains me to say it.

So is this trade supposed to make the Mariners better now or in the (distant) future?
1. It gets rid of their stupid 6-man rotation.

2. It removes far and away the biggest drain on their roster and blockade to promoting pitching talent on their roster.

3. It frees up $30M over the next 1.2 years.

4. It adds a guy who yes, has struggled this year, but had an ERA of around 3.20 the last 3 years and throws 100 mph.

5. It's far better than anyone predicted the M's would get back for Castillo without eating a shit ton of $$.
It also adds an arm to the bullpen. Which is good. So guessing Kirby or no other pitchers being moved. Traded the guy team was looking to move so. Plus Jones over Fairchild should be better.

He's owed $10.5M next year and probably around $2M for the remainder of 2026.

Castillo is actually owed $30M for the remainder of this year and 2027.

The M's saved about $18M in this trade.

That is unless I'm missing something and for some reason the teams trading for a player have to pay all of their salary despite 70% of the season being done... which I've never heard of.

Boston Smith isn't even listed on the site. The other two guys suck. But Smith is 23 yo and hitting over 1.000 OPS in A+ and AA this season. I like the trade.

Chicago has been in the marker for a catcher including discussions wyth the Orioles about Ruschman. Guess they don't view Boston Smith as a solution. He has some power and versatility though. Chicago picking up all of Castillo's contract? That must thrill Dipoto. I'm just glad to see Luis land in a good spot. He did some good stuff for us.

Actually saving $16M because he is only owed about $4M for the rest of the season.

I spaced on that but we are only 2/3 through the season so he is owed about $3M but whatever. Great trade.

The youngest prospect we got is 23 yo and is killing it in AA this season. He could be our BU C and LF next season on OD.

Should help out a bit now. Jones is 28 and has shown signs of great play at this level and Dominguez is our 8th inning guy throws hard and strikes out a ton. Just need a 3b
Jones is a throw in and AAA filler. Smith is the Prize..

This trade is addition by subtraction. We don’t need Castillo and confident that Anderson would provide better results rest of this year and next
