This is crazy too. The site is usually pretty good but their value for Lopez is absurd. Dude is on pace for almost EIGHT WAR

It's a matter of belief vs proven performance. Kirby has pitched at a very high level since he debuted.

Lopez is having an amazing year, but do you believe this is who he is moving forward or does he regress to what he was before?

A good example is Andres Giminez who put up a 7.4 bWAR 2022 with a 141 OPS+... the bat then regressed back to the mean.
Yeah now seeing below average offensively but his D sets a nice floor. He would have to play 3B though which diminishes his value significantly and he has barely played there. I just don't see him as target...
Why would he have to play 3B?

He's a far, far superior defensive shortstop compared to Emerson.

I'm assuming if this trade is made that Emerson is sent back to Tacoma and Donovan is your everyday 3B.

Emerson has to work his bat out.

No shit, we are saying they only limit his innings if he sucks again.
We? It's not what SOB said and that is who I responded to
Bro...

Ofc if Castillo is pitching well the vesting option isn't that big of a deal.

But there's a very, very low chance that he pitches well given his regression and age.

I am projecting, and with good evidence, that he will in fact not pitch well and there's no way they pick up the vesting option.
What I said is it's in his control. It's simple to me. You don't think he will pitch well ok. But that's up to him. They aren't going to limit the innings of a productive pitcher. The vesting really is irrelevant.

If you think they are moving the $95M wonder boy off SS where he is providing his only value, I don't know what to tell you. Can't believe you have followed this regime for over a decade and think they would even consider that for a millionth of a second...

How is that up to him?

He might just be a bad pitcher now.

Is he going to magically regain command, sit 98 mph, and have elite secondaries?

History isn't kind to players like him.

Of course that should happen and of course they won't do it. JK would have NEVER seen Tacoma again if he had accepted the deal they offered him.

They started him at 3B in favor of JP Crawford at SS...

They've already done it.

And I don't think that's true... if Emerson continues to struggle with the bat they'll have him sort things out in the minors.

He just needs to try harder. Maybe Felix can become his pitching and mental skill coach this off season.
