Because who else....
Did this as a separate post because its a huge trade, otherwise I would have used the ongoing trade deadline thread
Times a bazillion.

Re: Tarik Skubal traded to the Dodgers
According to who?
Hope has a .900 OPS as a 21 year old in AA and is on pace for 30 homers. He's a top 30 prospect in the sport.
Ryan is a top 100 prospect who has had some arm injuries in the past but has the chance to be a quality starter in the Majors. In 4 starts for the Dodgers in 2024 he had a 1.33 ERA. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABq8Wp1NDg8 His stuff is elite.
And the other pitcher they traded for is likely leading all the minors in K's/9.
What other, better package would a team expect for a 2-month rental?

Just gross.
I hope they just fall short in the World Series.

Everybody is complaining about the money the dodgers can throw around but it's interesting to point out two of the three players they traded for Skubal were 11th round draft picks. That's really the difference. The ability of their FO

That’s really not the difference. It’s the ability to have a $413.5 Million Payroll
That’s Really the Difference
Re: Tarik Skubal traded to the Dodgers
The Dodgers do everything well, including player development. They can turn turds into diamonds. That’s why they can trade everything that isn’t bolted down and still have a top 5 farm system, over and over and over again.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2026 2:40 pmEverybody is complaining about the money the dodgers can throw around but it's interesting to point out two of the three players they traded for Skubal were 11th round draft picks. Exactly, the Mets and Yankees have money to throw around. Nobody seems to be scared of them these days. I doubt a cap really slows down the dodgers that much.Big_Maple wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2026 2:48 pmThe Dodgers do everything well, including player development. They can turn turds into diamonds. “… a salary cap forget that it won’t stop certain players from taking equal — or even less — money to play for a team such as L.A., which offers higher visibility for off-field endorsements and a better chance at a World Series share. It’s happened in other sports. But I guess a cap would stop the Dodgers and Mets (who no one mentions in their arguments) from spending freely, and all that money owners save on payroll could translate into lower ticket and hot dog prices.”

Exactly. And all the idiots complaining about deferring money. Any team can do that.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2026 2:40 pmEverybody is complaining about the money the dodgers can throw around but it's interesting to point out two of the three players they traded for Skubal were 11th round draft picks.
