Mariner hitters misheard and thought the instructions were to not get any hits today.

Being the wusses that they are, Seattle batters are complying.

New strategy: all mariners hitters are to lean into pitches, get plunked, and take a base.

After 4 consecutive hit batters, we scratch a run.

Rinse and repeat.

So after trading for Ward, getting Donovan back, bringing up Pereda and shooting Garver and Refsnyder, against one good pitcher and several below-average pitchers we've scored in two out of 23 innings. At HOME.
