It just boggles the mind that in a game like this that they really had to win, we sat Cal, Naylor and Donovan in favor of Wilson, Pereda, and Rivas.

Even if those three are underperforming, they're at least still capable of having impact ABs. And even though Pereda can handle a bat, there's NO reason Wilson and Rivas should be out there, let alone at the same time.

The 2026 Mariners are like Little League where everyone gets to play. The season is on the line and DiPoto puts Timmy Lupus, Alfred Oglivie and whoever the third-shittiest Bad News Bear was on the field.

All 3 of those guys are dealing with reasonably serious injuries and this was a quick turnaround day game vs a nasty lefty...i thought maybe Donovan, but this is second day back since mid-May? Both Naylor and Raleigh belong in a MASH ward after the beatings, bloody nose, batted shins, and fast balls to the gut these guys have received in the first two games of this series.

Well, many would say that the competitive balance created by salary caps and revenue sharing has made those leagues more popular/successful and hence increased their revenue. And then that has led to larger salary contracts for their players. I tend go agree with that view.

The difference between the NFL and MLB are scabs. The NFL struck but the games continued with none union players. MLB players strike and the season is over

I don't remember a spring training with a labor dispute. Id like to investigate that more. Really we need to differentiate between strikes and lockouts. Seems like the last few baseball issues have been lockouts. Currently it's the MLB that wants to change the status quo so it's about shutting things down. It be MLB eliminating the season.

Bringing Donovan back slowly cracks me the fuck up. The dude has done nothing but come back slowly since what, April? Can't make this shit up.

Although I wouldn't call Stein one of the their three worst players. I think I'd go with Miguel Aguilar. All that kid ever did was draw a walk in the championship game and start a rebellion over having to wear a cup.

Well, you conveniently left out that MLB has greater revenue potential due to the fact they play 162 games in very large venues as opposed to 17 or 81 (NBA/NHL in smaller venues). I would venture to guess that MLB could generate greater revenues if every city that has a team felt that they had a fair shake in signing free agent talent then I think their attendance/viewership goes way up while the major market teams only experience a minor drop-off.

We'll see how badly the owners want a cap. Ultimately, it will come down to the rank and file players and how much the owners are willing to basically pay off those players to limit the upside earnings of a few elite players.
