In Michigan's 8th Congressional District, Candidate Tom Smith defeated candidate Amir Hassan in the Republican primary race for a chance to take on Kristen Rivet for the Congressional seat.

The only kicker? Tom Smith, a candidate with $2,000 raised and less than 100 followers on the Facebook page for his campaign, had WITHDRAWN from the race via a video on Facebook posted on July 15th due to what he perceived as not enough support to continue.

Hassan, a black, Navy veteran, and former Muslim turned Christian, who had disavowed the Muslim religion and was forced to post videos online explaining that he is "not an immigrant" and that his family "had been in the US for hundreds of years," was endorsed by both Trump and Speaker Mike Johnson. Trump had invited Hassan on stage at a rally on July 27th to endorse his candidacy. He was of course chosen as a token candidate meant to represent that minorities can disavow leftist extremism and join the righteous side  .

On a Trump Truth Social post endorsing the candidate, comments... such as this one by "JoniMarieforLiberty" said, ”“YOU ARE BEING MISLED, President Trump! This guy is a snake in the grass. Muslim and never voted for a republican in his whole life. Moved to Michigan last summer and immediately filed to run for office. Thank you for your attention to this matter!!” Another commenter named "Billie" wrote, “his name gives me pause. Call me racist, but I am merely being cautious. Obama comes to mind."

It didn't matter that Hassan's own campaign literature says Jesus Christ is his Lord and Savior. The mob had already decided that a name and a former religion were enough to disqualify him.

Republicans in Michigan literally voted for a man on a ballot who had dropped out of the race because the name "Tom Smith" looked white and "Amir Hassan" looked Muslim.

Nice job.
I would say that this is YOUR opinion and not fact. If it is fact, please product the factual evidence that race is involved.
SoB did what's called a "Post And Ghost". He knew he was going to get humiliated again, so by posting and then abandoning his post he gets to skip that part, although being addicted to himself I would imagine he's taken a peek. This is a tactic that liberal celebrities use, they post and then abandon it so that they can think that they were unquestionably right.

The best part in all of this is randomly posting something completely trivial just so they can suddenly scream "OMG racism" and nothing could be more on brand for a low IQ narcissist. It's such a sad, sad cry for attention. You know what's racist? Cambridge hiring, and covering up, the blatant lies and deception of a DEI hire - someone hired and elevated based solely on the color of their skin. Where's the outrage? Crickets, of course. Can't be a looney leftist with out narcissim and - mostly - complete and total hypocrisy. It's page one of the playbook. "OMG, racism!" followed by "no, it's different when we do it!"

It's 2026, and still trying to play the "OMG racism!" card that petered out years ago. The demand for racism seems to widly out pace the supply.

she/her/they/them's posts are so soft and flimsy they should just change their screenname to "Flaccid and loving it"

People have the right to be racist. There's nothing wrong with hiring someone or associating / disassociating with someone based on any factor you want including skin color. People just don't understand freedom. They are so indoctrinated into the cult of "government" that they can't even wrap their heads around the concept of a free market.

As long as you aren't using force and aggression, then there is no objective morality issue.

Instead of pointing the finger at racist Republicans, consider the role of "government". If you don't have the right to rob your neighbor at gunpoint to pay for things you want (taxation), then how can you delegate that exact same right to a "representative"? Where does their authority come from? When was the consent given?

Interesting to see two new posts about elections.

This is pretty much a "toss up district". Trump won it in 2024, but a Democrats was elected to the House at the same time. My alternative explanation is that many voters did not know that Smith had dropped out, and then compared the candidates and Smith looked like the more conservative of the two. Being more conservative tends to win Republican primaries. I glanced at his Facebook page and his website, and Smith definitely is hard right.

I am surprised that Trump's endorsement didn't carry the day. Trump used to have a much better record on his candidates winning.
They didn’t know who he was to begin with. He was a nothing candidate who had no polling strength at all. Hassan raised $620k compared to Smith’s $2,000.

This is quite literally a case of Republicans not voting for the Trump-endorsed candidate because of his name and perceptions drawn from it.

Well, there we go, folks. SoB, who appeared to have been run out of the Forum because he was sick of always being owned and had no recourse on recent threads which have been posted here (which by the way, resulted in much more intelligent, understanding and respectful discussion), gets a sudden itch because "JoniMarieForLiberty" and "Billie" said something stupid. These are literally two people, folks.

Did some people not vote for Hassan because of his name and history? Probably. Is it also possible that some voters thought Hassan wasn't authentic? Probably. Is it also possible that some voters thought Hassan was very flawed (as some GOP members said) and that Smith was the better candidate? Probably. Is it also possible that a lot of Democrat voters voted for Smith because Hassan was Trump's guy? Probably.

Nice try, bro. Seriously, quoting TWO random people. 🤡aysk0k.jpg
Run out of the forum? Oh Chud…

It’s going to take a hell of a lot more than a bunch of stupid, boomer Republicans to do that.

Last I was here, Walla Walla was shut up pretty fkn fast over Trump trying to steal $1.8B and guarantee his family immunity from future audits.

“Oh but muh OAN didn’t tell me that!”

Now it’s just Aurora shouting to the void about the big scary mayor in Seattle… a city he doesn’t live in. I don’t really care to chime in about his hysterics.

Oh and hey Chud, don’t just take my word for it…

Dude, believe me.... you have NEVER shut me up. Often times, I choose to ignore the shit that spills out of your mouth and onto the forums, but I choose not to respond.

I find you to be a crying little piece of shit that holds his participation trophy as high as he can to let the world know that "he won".

Yeah only when BPJ told you what I had posted was real and Trump was indeed trying to steal $1.8B in tax payer money and get his family immunity from future tax audits.

Clown fuck.

You literally offered a rebuttal by repeating what I said. You can't make this shit up. You are so incredibly childish, self-absorbed, and miserable, and it's so easy to play you. 😄
