GT 8.19.26 M's #1 Prospect Suddenly Retires; can't show his face as Mariner

KADE ANDERSON, growing embarrassed and despondent; has been diagnosed as being clinically depressed, put himself on suicide watch.
The sole reason is that he is a Mariner farmhand. After seeing the news about Tuesday's 22-0 Seattle loss, he called his agent and abruptly retired.
Mariners’ 25-year-old prospect suddenly retires from baseball
Story by J.P. Hoornstra - 8.18.26
Blake Rambusch retired from baseball on Tuesday, Aug. 18, according to his official transactions page. The 25-year-old third baseman was a 15th-round draft pick by the Mariners in 2022 out of Auburn University.

In parts of five professional seasons, Rambusch reached as high as the Triple-A level. In 22 games for the Tacoma Rainiers, the Mariners’ top farm team, Rambusch hit .284 with one home run and seven RBIs in 2026.

After less than a month in Tacoma, the Mariners assigned Rambusch to Double-A Arkansas on July 7. In his last game for the Travelers on Saturday, Aug. 15, Rambusch went 1 for 4 with a single.

Now, the former College World Series standout appears ready to hang up his cleats with less than a month remaining on the Texas League schedule.

In 66 games with Arkansas, Rambusch batted .262/.371/.300, with one home run, 35 walks, 38 strikeouts, and 34 stolen bases.

The 2026 season was Rambusch’s third straight year at Double-A. Last year he slashed .262/.354/.324 for Arkansas and was 34-for-37 in stolen base attempts. He was the Travelers’ Player of the Week May 27-June 1, 2025.

Listed at 5-foot-9, Rambusch overachieved for his stature throughout his tenure in college and the pros.

Most teams use a deep farm system to augment the major league team. We treat the loaded farm system as if we won a fucking ring. I don't give a shit anymore that Jerry built the farm. Two fucking playoff appearances. Zero trips to the WS, and he was a part of the historic run that bestowed upon us the glorious label of "longest playoff draught in North America". Jesus H. Christ, what good is a deep farm system if you cant utilize it to win in the Major Leagues?

Did the Texas Rangers return their WS ring the year they won it because our Farm System was better? We have the 9th best record in a shitty ass American League. But, at least our Farm System is loaded. Fuck that noise.

I'll be in Seattle on Friday and have zero desire to go see them play the Flubs. Big waste of money. A Pride Flag, an autographed Victoria's Secret photo of Katie Wilson and a bag of Jimothy's shit would be a better investment.

The farm is the most important thing if you're not gonna try and outspend other teams. Pretty obvious benefit. You get young talent under club control that you can either insert into your big league club or use as trade chips. There is no such thing as a good farm system that you can't "utilize to win in the major leagues". That's the exact purpose of it.

So, the purpose was to make the playoffs twice? Got it. What a smashing success.

You know, I could go on another 8-game win streak, then lose my 9th GT and we'd still be a game under .500.

When discovering the story about decent minor league player Blake Rambusch hanging up his spikes at 25, it made me think of the "what ifs".
What if players coming up saw such little hope in this organization that they'd rather retire than face a dismal Mariner future. I don't know why Rambusch called it quits. His minor league stats were adequate. The report said 3B but he is definitely more of a 2nd baseman and corner outfielder.
He may have a good fall back option, career-wise or maybe being buried behind 3-4 higher ranked infielders made him do the math.
But, what if Kade, Laz, Sloan, Arroya, etc. wanted out from this shit show? Just got me thinking.....

I saw headline of another article today about,
Mariners’ biggest problem is letting Jerry Dipoto operate without consequence
but didn't read it. You get the gist.

With all the gloom and doom, pitchforks, blaming, despondency, embarrassment that Jerry and company has unleashed upon us, yet he and his brain trust cohorts seem oblivious to, I present today's line-up:
