Fat lady sings on the 2026 season

Post by Walla Walla Dawg II » Sun Sep 06, 2026 4:46 pm

Sorry chaps. This team is done.....
Stick a fork in them,
Fat Lady sings,
or
Piss on the fire and call the dogs.

It's over. This team has no:
Guidance,
Fight,
or desire to be here.

This is the definition of a superfluous thread.

Here, i'll try to add some substance to this thread: from an article about star players that have fallen off dramatically this season...

Jrod and Cal swinging out of the zone
Raleigh has seen just 42.4% pitches in the zone this year, the fourth-lowest mark in MLB and down 3.5% from last year. His 35.7% swing rate on pitches outside the zone is the 33rd-highest in baseball. Rodríguez has seen 43.7% of pitches in the zone, the eighth-lowest mark and down 5.7% from last year. His 39.1% swing rate on pitches outside the zone is the 14th-highest in MLB
Remember suggesting the pair was costing the team at least ten war from last season, that's exactly what it is
After combining for 13.8 bWAR and 92 homers a year ago, the pair have provided Seattle with just 3.6 bWAR and 41 homers through 144 games this season.
I saw where their defense has been the worst rated in baseball since the all star break. They can't hit a baseball, chuck a baseball, catch a baseball, really is incredible

I find Julio's season to be more confounding even than Cal's. He should be into his prime years now and instead of bearing the fruit of facing MLB pitching for 4 seasons he looks more lost at the plate than ever. From .854 OPS his rookie season to .695 this one. And no (disclosed) injury to blame it on.

Bringing up injuries sounds like an excuse. Julio did have the concussion. Seems like those can be scary. It's possible Cals season could injury related. Donavan season has been wrecked. JP and Emerson.

But they can play baseball, just not as good. I could see a lingering injury affecting something like batting average more than say a RB carrying a football. Like how a relatively minor injury could throw your golf swing off
