New Manager Poll

Post by Big_Maple » Wed Oct 21, 2026 6:06 pm

I know D-Train started a thread to discuss this - but I am starting a poll now that we are getting closer to a decision and deadline.

I wouldn't have a problem with Espada. I don't know anything about his style but he's had plenty of experience, bench coach for nine years under A.J. Hinch and Dusty Baker. Took over and had some success, 256–229, think he squeezed about all the wins he could out of those Astros teams he was given. He's getting canned because they are hiring a new GM not because he failed particularly. Basically how Kubiak became available for the Seahawks

I can actually see then making a run at Vogt. They’d have to orchestrate a trade like they did with Piniella for Randy Winn.

They know Vogt. He’s doing amazing things with the Guardians. For whatever reason, they let him go, and I’m sure they’re regretting it. Vogt has family in Seattle. I know it’s a longshot, and I know it’s what I’d like to happen rather than likely what will happen. But the Mariners may actually surprise us on this one.

His family is actually in Olympia which is a two and a half hour round trip commute without traffic 81 times a year

I hope it isn't Vogt. Maybe my view on this is wrong, but it seems like the defining reason to pursue him would be the local connection and his previous stint as a coach in the organization, which by all accounts went really well. I just hope the process doesn't go that way.

Why what? I explained my reasoning so I'm not sure what you're asking.
