When the receivers fuck up their routes it can make the QB look bad, they are supposed to be in a certain place at a certain time. The pass depends on that

Unfortunately for you, the guy that intercepted it was 2 yards in front of both guys. Neither was going to catch it, only the defender.

And there was only 1 of those (defenders) in that part of the field, not 2. He intercepted the ball.
