Re: Unstoppable
I haven't been watching the post season really. Casually flipped on the WS game 3 tonight and I was like wait, is that Daniel Vogelbach? My hero!
No wonder the Brewers are so good!

Re: Unstoppable
So what makes him a good hitting coach? Maybe the Brewers' GM doesn't try to impose his own hitting philosophy on him...

Re: Unstoppable
I don't think any hitting coach tries to impose a hitting philosophy. A hitting coach making $500,000 a year isn't lecturing a ML player making $10 mil. These guys consider themselves successful, they spent their lives moving through the levels and now are at the pinnacle of success., they aren't getting told what to do and they will be reluctant to alter what got them there. Good coaching is observation, communication, suggestions on what might not be working.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2026 5:43 amSo what makes him a good hitting coach? Re: Unstoppable
Yeah, a lot of it is situational. Helping a hitter prepare for their next opponent. I remember reading that before, a ML hitting coach isn't there to teach hitting, that's done in the minors. He's there primarily to prepare a hitter for each pitcher that comes along. There's a lot of watching video of pitchers

• Player Praise & Communication: Brewers hitters and manager Pat Murphy have credited Vogelbach for his high communication standards, detailed pitch-analysis preparation, and ability to tailor game plans to individual hitter strengths rather than a rigid, one-size-fits-all philosophy.
• Coaching Trajectory: Murphy has noted that Vogelbach possesses strong leadership skills and a bright future in the game that extends beyond just a hitting coach role

Re: Unstoppable
They have three hitting coaches. Vogelbach is not the "lead", so who knows what he's doing for them. Still seems like a genius hire.

Which makes sense with the number of players involved and the amount of information required to disseminateDanielVogelbach wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2026 2:32 pmThey have three hitting coaches. Vogelbach is not the "lead", so who knows what he's doing for them. Still seems like a genius hire.

What he does
Working closely with the manager (Pat Murphy) and field coordinator/game preparation staff to adjust offensive approaches and daily hitting routines
