Re: Hawks vs Chefs game thread
Definitely a huge difference in the play calling. The ball was out of Sam's Hand much quicker. They showed a graphic during the game and it was something like 2.5 seconds per throw verses well over 3 seconds in the previous 6 games. I also think getting the run game going helped out a ton. It keeps the defense honest when they can't just pin their ears back. Bradford has taken a lot of grief from Seahawk fans over the years for his pass blocking, but he is a road grader in the run game and I think we may have just seen the reason why they have stuck with him for so long.

Darnold wasn't sacked, wasn't really hurried. Was that a function of the improved run game? The play action working? Is Bradford responsible for that? I mean as opposed to just pass blocking. He was tossing guys around. See him toss the LB? I saw him interviewed after the game. He said he feels he can help bring an attitude to the line. I'm not the one to disagree with him.
Its true the pass blocking is easier if the run game is working. It's what linemen want to do, run block, hit somebody. It was the criticism of Grubb. He kept the oline men on their heals constantly pass blocking. They couldn't get in rhythm

I think we can be confident in MM's leadership and ability. This guy called a stellar defensive game. They shut down Walker and Mahomes and held the Chiefs to 3 points. His approach reminds me of that quote from First Blood... it's a fairly lengthy quote, but can be summarized by this:
'To kill! Period! Win by attrition.'
'To kill! Period! Win by attrition.'

The buck stops with MM, and based on what we know about how things went down with Grubb? Again, I don't think he said fix it or get out, but I am pretty sure that is what Lefleur felt!
The run game wasn't any more efficient on Sunday than last Thursday.
Broncos Game
Wilson 14 carries - 52 yards
Holani 5 carries - 20 yards
Jones 4 carries - 20 yards
Shaeheed 1 carry - 2 yards
Sam scrambled 2 times for 19 yards. Those were pass plays
So, RB/WR carries - 24 carries for 94 yards - 3.91 per carry. RBs? 23 carries for 92 yards - 4 yards per carry.
Darnold threw it 51 times and scrambled twice. So, 53 drop backs and 24 run calls. Not good.
Chiefs Game
Wilson 24 carries - 100 yards
JSN 2 carries - 17 yards
Holani 5 carries - 11 yards
Jones 5 carries - 8 yards
Barner 3 carries - 4 yards
Sam scrambled twice for 17 yards.
So, RB/WR/TE carries - 39 carries for 140 yards - 3.6 per carry. 0.31 LESS than last week. RBs? 34 carries for 119. 3.5 yards per. A full HALF A FUCKING YARD LESS. Yet? Last night's run game was considered a success and last week it sucked? Nope, once again, you can't run the ball if you don't run the ball. Trust me, Lefluer got the Memo. Candy coat it all you fucking want. The run game was less successful, and in a close game last week? They abandoned it. I highly doubt that made MM very happy.
Oh, and Sam threw it a whopping 28 times. Or, better yet? 30 drop backs compared to 53 last week. Don't give me the score shit either. The Broncos game went to Over Time, and the last pick was a fucking Sam Darnold special throw it up on first down and lose the game bullshit play that could have been a run play. Sam threw his picks in the 4th quarter and OT. Otherwise we win. Run the fucking ball. Pretty sure Lefleur heard that shit loud and clear.

I'm proud of the team, but I think some of you are treating all defenses as equal and that's not the case.
KC doesn't have the defense the Donkey's have. Also, the Hawk offense was bothered by a rowdy Donkey stable.(crowd noise).
Still, they obviously stepped it up.
Conversely, the Dark Side is tailor made to stop the KC offense.

Re: Hawks vs Chefs game thread
Just watched the play again from a zoomed out overhead view from behind the QB. I think JSN ad-libbed on his route. He saw the Linebacker creep up toward the line to help out with the shallow crosser and he cut in behind him. He was running absolutely wide open with nobody covering him and he gave the hand wave sign. Sam locked in on him and delivered a decent throw that was right on target to JSN. Unfortunately Shaheed was double covered and his route took him from the opposite direction right into the throwing lane. Its pretty hard to keep an eye on both guys coming from opposite directions at the same time. If sam had been a tick earlier on the throw it would have been an easy TD but he was under pressure and had to step up into the pocket before he could throw it. I guess you could say that Sam should have remembered that Shaheed's route was leading him to that area but to me it was more just unfortunate timing than a bad decision.XpertDBA wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2026 2:44 amUnfortunately for you, the guy that intercepted it was 2 yards in front of both guys. Neither was going to catch it, only the defender.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2026 2:42 amSure, nothing wrong about two receivers laying on the ground after running into each other![]()
And there was only 1 of those (defenders) in that part of the field, not 2. He intercepted the ball.

Yeah, Denver was on a short week of preparation, they were playing at altitude against a tough defensive team on the road. I had the game circled as a loss before the season started.trharder wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2026 7:40 pmI'm proud of the team, but I think some of you are treating all defenses as equal and that's not the case.

He threw a fucking YOLO ball in the Red Zone, and was picked again. Jesus H. Christ, the amount of excuses being made for the guy that lead the league in turnovers last year and has a history of turning the ball over, and has 8 INTs in five games is mind blowing to me!
Oh, and his record in those five games in 2 and 3. Just fucking stop. Sam isn't making these excuses, but the Ginger Jesus fan club is incredible!

Despite the INT his QBR was 92.0 yesterday. He played an outstanding game.

No one, that I can tell, is saying otherwise. But that throw was "Bad Sam" shit. I'm kind of tired of it.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2026 4:11 amDespite the INT his QBR was 92.0 yesterday. He played an outstanding game.
You have a chance to curb stomp them in the first half, and on second and goal from the three, up 10 to 0 with 23 seconds left? He made a bad and risky decision, that damn near got ran back for six for KC, and then nearly handed them three. His interceptions aren't just interceptions, they are BAD fucking plays, and often times result directly in points for the opposition. It needs to end if this team wants to go anywhere.
It took zero turnovers in the playoffs for this team to win a Super Bowl, and we have guys excusing 8 picks in five games....and a two and three record in those five games. It blows me away. Russell Wilson could throw one away on third down and this place would implode. If Geno went 2 and 3 over 5 games where he threw 8 fucking picks? I can't even imagine the number of anti Geno posts that would be going on in here.
It was a stupid play, and calling him out for it is not a bad thing.
