I had such high Hope's for Stefen Romero!! Remember that shot he hit against the Braves?!! "Flash in the Pan!"
I’d say he was in the Pan, but not quite a flash.

Montero once again...

interesting that even there they talk about issues but seem to ignore them...I remember the deal with his actually declining in 2011, it was viewed as his being bored with the minors. And if he was bored, was that an indicator of his lack of a work ethic? It could be he was every bit the hitter they thought he was but didn't have the commitment to get any better. That is just the beginning of the hard work, getting to the majors. Cashman did seem to know when to cut bait.
"Montero may be the best all-around hitter in the minors, capable of .300 with 30-plus homers annually," Baseball America wrote in 2011, after Montero had hit .289/.353/.517 as a 20-year-old in Triple-A. "He doesn't have typical hitting mechanics, as he doesn't always have a smooth swing and can be a bit of a front-foot hitter, but his strength and hand-eye coordination help him overcome that. He has well above-average power, particularly to the opposite field." Baseball America wasn't the only one high on Montero. Keith Law ranked Montero fourth in 2011 and ninth in 2012. Baseball Prospectus ranked him third in 2011 and seventh in 2012. Everyone thought Montero would hit, even if they didn't believe he'd stick at catcher. Hmm, maybe not enough attention was paid to those flaws. Everyone also projected improvement after a strong season at age 20 at Triple-A (the fact that he wasn't as good in 2011 should have been a bigger warning sign).

remember debating that 2011 season with Dtrain, Darren expects to see steady upward improvement with a prospect, any deviation to him is a big warning sign. Remember telling him nobody saw it as a big deal...

8-) Nice work! That was extremely well-done -- especially off the top of your head. Way better than Sims, The Tailpipe and plenty of others, even when they have computers and fistfuls of stats in front of them. You've got a gift, swear to God: after numerous annual DT parties, meeting lots of posters and hanging on the board for years, I continue to be half-gobsmacked at the talent and knowledge that assembles here. It's like the sum total of Mariners' history in an easy-to-read Funk and Wagnalls Encyclopedia for Homers!

Of course -cough- most of your predictions blew chunks lol, but that's easy to forgive, since we all do that. Great clip. :D
Hey thanks brother! It was always a dream of mine to be an analyst. She asked me what I wanted to talk about. As I was telling her she started writing them down as bullet points on a paper, and then I figured I'd just bullshit my way through the questions to give her enough time to lead me Into the next one. Overall it felt a lot more natural than I could've imagined. But she is a professional so....

Lmao!!! It was Fanfest! I was being optimistic at the time. I was thinking let's do a bit that looks professional that you could always remember. So douche bag answers were the quickest thing off the top of my head!! Lol I was channeling my inner "Tom Glasgow! Lmao

It's hilarious. Although several years ago I asked why any girl would screen name Sexymarinersfan unless she was looking for trouble on the M's board. :o
