If trading him to Houston, they better hold out for one of their top prospects like Corbin Martin. Otherwise screw Houston.
Corbin would be a decent "get" for EE. They have some decent farm system.
I was going to hold out for a Beer but reading his profile he seems like a poor man's Vogelbach.

I'd see if we could pry catcher Garrett Stubbs from them. M's still need catchers with promise in the org.
I don't mind Beer but I would hold out for a double tall Captain Morgan's & Coke!
I think we did this before on another thread but Martin or Bukauskas range would be a nice return.
Brewers is another possible spot from the landing spot thread.

I'd like to see them work out a trade with the Brewers and include Encarnacion and Dee Gordon for Jesus Aguilar + prospect. Maybe include Healy to even things out.

We dont get back much besides shedding Dee Gordon, but Aguilar is a change of scenery guy that could benefit with a DH/1B jobshare with Vogelbach the next 4 years.

And, if we can attach Dee to Encarnacion like Dipoto did Diaz/Cano, it could be another double coup for us.
Nah. Dee Gordon is a valuable piece. Not as valuable as his contract, but pay some of it and you should be able to get some value back in a trade for him alone.
Uhh ok.

The only idiot that would trade for Dee Gordon for his talent, already did.

His value as a pinch runner and defender make him with while. It's his contract that's the problem. Dipoto has already proven he's willing to eat money on a deal.

It may be organizational depth or a C prospect/ lottery ticket, but don't take less in return for EE (your most valuable trade asset you have left that is likely to be traded) just to get rid of him.

Even at best we aren't going to get near a top prospect for a 1B/DH.

Getting a bounceback candidate and prospect like Ashby would be good return, even without adding Gordon.

You're right though, Gordon's perfect role is as a UTIL/Pinch runner/Defensive replacement.

Yes though, trading a talented pitcher like Nick Niedert for Dee Gordon with his contract is idiotic and still ticks me off.

Obviously.

I still think the Dee Gordon acquisition was all about the international Ohtani $'s, not about Dee Gordon.

It was, "Hey, we need money for Ohtani."

"Oh. Ok, just take Gordon and you can have ours."

"Ok."

Dipoto was still doing stupid things around every corner back then so who knows what was going through his mind. He tried making Jarrod Dyson a starting CORNER outfielder for cryin out loud.

What's even worse about the Gordon trade was that the Marlins turned around and traded Yellich, Stanton and Ozuna.

We needed an OF and somehow out of those 4 guys we got the second baseman.

I think Dipoto knew Cano could end up being suspended as well.

This is a great post, might be a tad too simplistic but literally is like a parody of the Mariners day to day.

Well, we had no farm system at the time. It was Kyle Lewis and Nick Niedert, and we see what Niedert brought back. It's laughable to think Ms could have gotten any of the other guys.
