BYU has an opening this week but there are issues with testing protocol plus they would get bumped if a PAC 12 school becomes available so they are not that keen on committing anyway. Utah may be a possibility because there are doubts about weather or not ASU will be ready by this weekend.

A buddy of mine said he heard BYU didn't want to commit until they saw where they stood in the Playoff picture. Basically, they don't want to play a real team until the Final 4. Based on the ass beatings we have given them lately, I guess that makes sense. My guess is we end up with a bye week. I am supposed to be in Phx this week...was hoping to get to the ASU vs Utah game. Even if it is played, that won't happen as fans aren't really allowed in, but I will tell you all, if you get a chance to watch a game at ASU, take the opportunity!

Sorry to chime in late, but truth is, BYU didn't want to commit, unless Washington would commit. They weren't going to commit to go to Washington, pay their way, not get any revenue from the game, just to have the game cancelled if another p12 were to become available, and by Sunday night, the rumors were that ASU was going to cancel, and guess what, ASU cancelled and Washington is playing Utah this week (they were prepping for Utah since Sunday so all parties knew this was the likely scenario).

And BYU beating Washington wouldn't move the needle for BYU in a NY6 game. The Committee doesn't want to let a non p-5 team in, and showed tonight that they are going to do everything possible to keep BYU out. ISU was ranked 13, ahead of BYU. They lost at home to LA Lafayette by 17, and are still ranked ahead of BYU who has destroyed everyone they played, including Boise State.

BYU actually did bring their players back during Thanksgiving break and were preparing for a game on Monday, but nothing was worked out. They never said no to a game. They would have played Washington, but misinformation was put out there to make BYU look bad. Washington has been preparing to play Utah for 3-4 days. BYU said, "you guarantee the game, we'll play". P12 wouldn't allow them to guarantee the game because they were going to play Utah all along.

Thanks. This is my yearly contribution. It stinks, because this is the best BYU team of the last decade, and we don't get to see just how good they are. They had everybody cancel on them for Covid. They then were in the process of scheduling Alabama to start the season, then SEC said conference games only. They have had to work their asses off just to get the schedule they have now. The narrative that they were "ducking" anyone is just wrong.

The fact is, they didn't say they wouldn't play them. They had other potential games in the works as well. They were talking with SDSU about moving their 12/12 game to this weekend as well. They never said they wouldn't play them, and they certainly aren't "ducking" anyone. The P12 is a joke. They aren't going to play, then everyone else play, "OK now we'll play". Then they can't play out of the conference. Games start getting cancelled, the realize they are losing a shit ton of money and they say "OK, you can play out of conference, but you have a million different stipulations that are completely unreasonable." Washington came to BYU as a backup. BYU said. "we'll commit when you do" and left it at that. Washington was planning on playing Utah all along and BYU knew that. They were in talks with other teams, and tried to move their SDSU game to this weekend, but that didn't work out. BYU did nothing wrong. Washington wasn't wrong to try to come up with a backup, but any reasonable person would see that BYU shouldn't just accept that deal and didn't need that game. BYU didn't demand independence, they got out of the MWC that was paying them nothing, and had a worse TV station than the P12 network.

First of all, you don't know what was said. There was 1 tweet with wild speculation that blew up. BYU WAS preparing to play the game, and it was clear that the P12 was making other plans for Washington to play Utah. BYU just closes any and all doors for this weekend for agreeing to a game that was NEVER going to happen.

Holy Hell dude. EVERYONE KNEW THAT WASHINGTON WAS GOING TO PLAY UTAH. Why would BYU commit to a game that was a 1 % chance of happening? They had other stuff they were working on as well. Thats just completely unreasonable, and Thanksgiving week on top of that, they even brought their players back to practice incase something worked out. It didn't. BYU didn't back out. They just kept the options open. BYU did nothing wrong. They aren't going to simply bend over in take it in the ASS because P12 thinks their shit doesn't stink.
