Trade proposal Phil/Sea

Post by Hanjag » Mon Jun 24, 2019 9:06 pm

I viewed the Segura-McC stuff and how a 145 OPS+ start was timely from the Bruce trade. Now the Phillies have Scott Kingery who plays SS, 3rd, and CF and TY because CF, 3B have OPS+ in the 60's
My proposal
3rd Base Kyle Seager: IN his extended ST May he had a .509 OPS in June it has been .780. Solid defender.

CF Mallex Smith. .301 .363 .478 .841 his last month after a slow start and in less than 1200 ML ABs has been worth 6 WAR. He is an 3+ WAR CF/lead-off guy who has 21/23 SBs coming off more than 40.He is good young and cheap controlled through 2022.

M's send 1/2 of Seager's owed salary, Mallex, Seager, Basically .5 X 58 so 29 million. 3 years and the rest of 2019

M's get
Alec Blohm 3rd B #38 ranked
Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 55 | Run: 35 | Arm: 50 | Field: 45 | Overall: 55
or
Spencer Howard RHP 6'3" their # 5
Scouting grades: Fastball: 65 | Slider: 55 | Curveball: 50 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 45 | Overall: 50
and some other lower system stuff.

Phillies aren't trading Alec. Is close to the majors , His close friends with luis Garcia their shortstop prospect, And hes there number one draft prospect. We're not trading for a couple of mariner cast offs.

I think Mallex could help offset some of the Seager salary, which, as we've seen, may be the primary motivation in any of these salary dump trades. Dump salary.

If Edwin Encarnacion got us our #15 prospect, I don't see any reason why Mallex + Seager + money wouldn't bring back something good.

Yeah we might get another Then back but this would be like us trading Kelenic and Justin Dunn for Seager and Mallex.

No it wouldn't, it would be Kelenic or Carlson that #5 prospect of theirs is on the IL.
They would get Kyle who has a OPS+ over 100 and above average D on a team that has 2 50's OPS+ at 3rd base and CF. Mallex has had an 800s OPS for over a month. He has a track record of being over 100 OPS+. Seager at 1/2 price is a really nice player to fill in an area of weakness.

Seager's OPS+ is 93. Can't wait for that trade to happen.
