not saying it is a lot. The one thing Dipoto has made clear seems to me is their lack of interest in spending this off season. I can't imagine them deciding to drop $6 mil on a closer, maybe they will splurge and find a $6 mil corner outfielder.

Well they have already passed on Pederson for $7M and Rosario for $8M so maybe they are holding for the $6M man since we now seem to be the small market 1980s M's again.

Letting Soria and Colome get away for peanuts. Ok now I'm officially pissed and firmly believe they have zero intention of going for it this season. God fucking dammit!! You cheap fucks!!
Going for it?? Going for what? With one legitimate pitcher in the starting rotation... Marco Gonzales who is a legitimate #3 or possibly #2 and one legitimate MLB infielder... Kyle Seager who is a #14-20 rated third baseman.... and a bunch of other questions at every position, you are finally aware the M's have zero intention of "going for it" this season?? This team is geared to win 65-70 games. Neither Soria or Colome is going to get this team into the promised land. This is a 90+ loss team, period.

I was going to say that they will be lucky to get to 70 wins this season, but you beat me to it, Terry. And considering they will be playing in a relatively weak division, that's saying something. I find it inconceivable (Hat tip to Wallace Shawn) that, with the depressed contracts being handed out, this organization once again proves it is a AAAA team playing in the majors. How I wish that MLB would reorganize around how the English Premier League drops the worst teams every year and brings up deserving, second level teams to replace them. Perhaps getting bitch slapped by the fanbase isn't enough for management to change their ways. Yet again, the Mariners prove they are a third rate organization pretending to play at the Major League level!

Any evidence that the Mariners did not offer more than $7 million for Joc Pederson or more than $8 million for Eddie Rosario?

MLB free agency is not eBay.

All we know is they didnt make an offer sufficient to get them to sign on the dotted line.

Anyone for that matter.

None of us expected them to compete for the AL West, but making easy low cost moves to fill obvious 2021 holes didnt seem like too much to ask at the outset.

They could have had at the very least a respectable team by adding a LF, a SP3 and a RP.

As Donn said, the bullpen has been addressed satisfactorily imo. Especially once the Padres injured guy comes back. Could they have improved further? Easily..

And, if Korea can be a solid #3, Dipoto will deserve credit for him also.

That leaves LF. Maybe they actually believe in Marmolejos. Maybe theyll swoop on Ozuna (lol).

As frustrating as it is to see obvious improvements coming off the board relatively inexpensively- and short-term, so they wouldnt have blocked anybody- they're still a .500 team in my opinion. With some upside they can surprise some people.

Logic tells me that it is unlikely that Rosario grew up in Puerto dreaming about playing in Cleveland for a rebuilding team. So much so that he gave them a discount over the Mariner's better offer. Pederson grew in Palo Alto, CA. Perhaps he was a Cubs fan but I would be surprised he would turn down more money to play just a 90 minute flight from his home town in order to live and play in the Midwest for a team that also isn't focused on winning this season.

Well your prediction of 18 wins last season was 66.6% of the actual so I guess this means will will win 99-105 games. Awesome! ;)

Here is Divish's suggestions. Gonzales had a .601 OPS, Miller .807, Holt .557
Left-handed hitting utility player
Marwin Gonzalez — He’s actually a switch-hitter and one of the best utility players in baseball. He tormented the Mariners for seasons. But he’s now 32 and starting to decline a little in production. Could the Mariners sign him and then move him at midseason when Jarred Kelenic is the full-time left fielder?

Brad Miller — The former Mariner isn’t really good defensively as left fielder or second baseman or any position, but he’s shown he can hit at the MLB level. He was an effective bench player for the Cardinals last season. But would he prefer to remain in the National League?

Brock Holt — A veteran utility player who understands his role, Holt was abysmal at the plate last season. But from 2017 to 2019, he hit .269 with a .354 on-base percentage.
