I’m still fuming from Buck ignoring Vogey. I’m hoping Vogey comes back to the AS game next year, wears a field mic, and just gives Buck dead air.
How was he ignored? He had an at bat and was a damp squib.
Buck makes it a big deal to talk up each player as they come to bat, especially those in their first AS game, and what they’ve done. It brings the player some media presence. All Dan got was a quick ‘Vogelbach the hitter’ squeezed into Buck’s shameless pandering into Alonso’s mic.
His first ever AS ab with hundreds of friends and family watching on TV and Buck would rather make dumb ass jokes about f-ing coffee with Alonso. Mindless prick.

Because the AL won and our Voglebach was a winner I think we will count this as a DT win and Darren should be obliged to start the GT against the Angels. Oh, and of course the last game before the all-star game was a loss so no competing claim to the throne.

The "mic on the field" thing is really, really stupid. I hope a player misses an easy ground ball, National League player preferably. I want a mic on Russell Wilson when he overthrows the pass to Lockett... "How'd I miss that fucker?!"

I agree. Drop the on field mic. It’s stupid, serves no purpose, and distracts the players.

In retrospect re the game, I just realized that Kirby Yates, the lone Padres rep, didn’t get in the game at all. That’s gotta burn a little.

More screwups from the game operations perspective:

They forgot to mention they had Aaron Goldsmith's twin separated at birth in the broadcast booth.
