I never said he couldn't, I said there was no reason to, and the Mariners wouldn't do it. Them putting Nola there kinda shows that they agree with me.

Defense has value. It just has less value than almost any other aspect of the game because of its scarcity of use. There are only so many good plays to be made. Especially good plays that an average defender won't make anyways.
My 24th and 25th guys on the roster are defensive/speed replacements because once you get a lead, you protect it.
But, the most important thing the Mariners have skipped in recent years when chasing defense, you have to get a lead before you have anything to protect, and unless you have a solid lineup, you won't get enough leads to protect.

It shows that they're going to give Seager at least thru the All Star break, more likely the entire season, to try and improve. That much is obvious to anyone, probably even Don Gorgon.
As I said, I'm only talking about going into 2020. I'm betting Seager can play 2B as well as Nola- who the Mariners have no qualms playing 2B- so at some point, I would bet we see Seager at 2B if he stays in Seattle.

He probably can, but no way Nola plays 3B as well as Seager. Who do you think will play 3B in 2020?bpj wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2019 2:29 amIt shows that they're going to give Seager at least thru the All Star break, more likely the entire season, to try and improve. I'd still like to see if Nola can handle 3B. I wouldn't trade Seager until this offseason or next mid-season. They are supposed to outlaw the shift next year.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 6:02 amMaybe, but his contract makes a trade extremely unlikely. Get used to Seager on the team cause it ain't changing.ice99 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 5:51 amI see it more like this. Seager might hit better in a change of scenery, perhaps in the NL. I'd like to know if Nola can handle 3B. Also next year they're supposed to do away with the shift.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 5:24 amWould Seager be an above average defender at 2B? I don't kite that he has the range for that. What is the advantage of putting him at 2B where he sucks on offense and is at best average on defense. His biggest asset is his glove at 3B. He is here for better or worse the next few years. I get why you don't like it, but complaining won't change it. I hope Im wong and they just Dfa him, but I think the chances of that are .001%. Mariners just won't do that.

Seager if his bat comes back, anyone else if it doesn't.
It doesn't matter who any more than it did when Jarrod Dyson was our LF, for the exact same reason.
Dyson's bat didnt warrant using a LF spot on him. Seagers' bat is playing him into the same predicament.

Get the thought of trading Seager out of your head. Its not going to happen with the clause in his contract. Nobody is going to trade for him and he isn't blocking anyone. Nola is not going to be the 3B of the future for 2021 and beyond, so I see no value in trying him at 3B.

Nobody cares if Nola plays defense as well as Seager if he has a .900 OPS!!!

So if Seager isn't hitting well you want him to play 2B and use a utility guy like Dylan Moore at 3B, if he's hitting well then its fine to use him at 3B and that same utility guy is at 2B instead? That makes no sense at all.

Nobody cares what you see value in. You can't see your hand in front of your face judging by the nonsense you talk here.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2019 2:39 amGet the thought of trading Seager out of your head.
