Minor League Updates
Re: Minor League Updates
Really the only disappointments and they weren't expected to be top prospects are the secondary pieces of the Pax trade.

Re: Minor League Updates
Its funny. It started clicking for both of them on the same day. May 30. They had a double header. Lewis went 4-9 with hits in 10 of the next 11 games. White went 3-6 and started a 21 game hitting streak.
Splits since that day Not incuding todays game
Lewis .323/.392/.470/.862
White .319/.345/.574/.920

I didn't say that Ricky was devoid of power but it was his speed that put him in the HOF, and its going to be the same with Ichiro, .820 and .775 OPS are pretty mediocre for corner outfielders, OPS is not the only thing to judge a player with, even corner outfieldersbpj wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 8:18 pmThis is so wrong.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 4:34 pmOPS puts up runs, speed puts up runs too, though you don't have any use for speed. Its not that you need power at certain positions, what you need is offense, and offense comes in a variety of packages. Your power can come from whatever position you feel like so long as you get offense from your other positions. Ricky Henderson provided offense from a power position, he did it by scoring runs.
Rickey Hendersons career OPS was .820. 16 consecutive seasons with an OPS over .775 plus more late in his career.
Ichiro had 8 seasons with an OPS over .775.
I'll be just fine with that with their speed.
If they were picking up prime Rickey Hendersons or Ichiros we wouldnt be having this conversation. They're trying to stash .650 or .700 OPS's in the corner outfield and that will NEVER work.

Raleigh is getting pretty comfy in AA now as well. Hitting .314 in his last 10 games before tonight.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 3:22 amIts funny. Yeah. Too small of a sample size to know if its anything more than a hot streak, but it is encouraging.D-train wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 3:51 amRaleigh is getting pretty comfy in AA now as well. In the cross your fingers category, Kelenic was replaced in the 4th inning today after 1 AB. No obvious injury as per twitter.

Kelenic pulled early in High A, Ian Miller traded to the Twins. Coincidence? Do we see Lewis in Tacoma and Kelenic in Arkansas?

It was their speed on top of their OPS that will get them in the HOF. Otherwise we could talk about Juan Pierre also.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 3:31 amI didn't say that Ricky was devoid of power but it was his speed that put him in the HOF, and its going to be the same with Ichiro, .820 and .775 OPS are pretty mediocre for corner outfielders, OPS is not the only thing to judge a player with, even corner outfieldersbpj wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 8:18 pmThis is so wrong.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 4:34 pmOPS puts up runs, speed puts up runs too, though you don't have any use for speed. OPS is the best thing to judge their bat with, which is #1 on the list of must-haves for a corner outfielder or 1B.
If they add speed on top of the OPS, then, sure they can be corner outfielders (like Rickey or Ichiro).
Nobody belongs in COF or 1B without a sufficient SLG component of OPS, no matter what else they bring to the table.
.775 and .820 OPS are not great, but with their speed they are acceptable. If their OPS was lower, or the speed isn't there, they are no longer acceptable. Easy to see it play out as a real life example as Ichiro just aged. At some point he no longer deserved RF, even if he stole 50 bases.

Ian Miller has been dealt to the Twins for either Cash or PTBNL

29 SBs. JD must hate speed. Watch him be a playoff race hero in Minnesota.Marinerjim11 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 5:46 amIan Miller has been dealt to the Twins for either Cash or PTBNL

If he had no speed he wouldn't be in the HOF but you can't steal 1B. Billy Hamilton who is faster than Rickey was won't be sniffing a AS game let alone the HOF.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 3:31 amI didn't say that Ricky was devoid of power but it was his speed that put him in the HOF, and its going to be the same with Ichiro, .820 and .775 OPS are pretty mediocre for corner outfielders, OPS is not the only thing to judge a player with, even corner outfieldersbpj wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 8:18 pmThis is so wrong.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 4:34 pmOPS puts up runs, speed puts up runs too, though you don't have any use for speed.
