Yeah, I don't get it. Might have even boosted attendance above 11k.AT Funchal-Madeira wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 2:25 pmKind of shocked and dismayed that the M's brought up reliever Wyatt Mills and declined a start for Matt Brash in the final week. Would have been fun to watch.
This is the best path imo as well.

I abhor, yea loathe the probable result that the Yankees somehow make it into the playoffs.... loathe is not nearly strong enough to describe my repugnance for that malignity in the AL East. Money, hubris, superiority, predatory rights, decadence, urban provinciality, gamesmanship, ..... I hate that fuckin' team and have nothing but venom for their organization....
I don't care about the "most likely" path, I want them out.... out! I tell ya!
Not Damn Yankees! "Dutch residents of New York referred to English settlers in Connecticut as damn Yankees (anticipating Confederate usage by several generations) and complained about their sharp-dealing Yankee tricks. New England was also known as Yankee-land and the verb, to yankee, meant to cheat or defraud." from Wikipedia

Yeah the Fenway series this weekend was a complete debacle.
Should be a great series with the Jays starting tonight!

could have declined to pitch?...how would have that looked going into FA? I was kidding but come on, you are given the ball, you pitch.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 2:19 pmHe could have easily declined to pitch and the union would have his back. Mariners win! We're HEROES!!!
Man, that's two days in a row I handed out the Awards For Heroism the next day. I'm just not used to giving those out more than 85 times.

"Most likely path" is always to win your own games.
There will be no worse scenario than last day needing to win and someone else to do us a favour to clinch. Then on that last day be so obsessed with what's happening in Canada, Washington or the Bronx that we forget to win that last game and miss the boat.
If we win all 5 then that will probably do, if we win 4 it's a bit of a lottery and 3 or less and we're deservedly gone. That's all I am going to bother about.
I am not going to waste my hope watching Baltimore or New York play no matter how helpful to our cause it will be. I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a screwdriver. I suppose I do have the added advantage only being concerned with channeling all my energy into making sure I can make the 3am starts.
Plus if we win all 5 and that's not enough then we can spend all winter bitching about how Servais, White, Seager, Montero, the Trade and Dipoto cost us the missing 1 win and the WC. Someone will probably spot a villain more culpable than Bartman if we look hard enough.
We can have an absolute field day crucifying everyone for 6 months. What's not to like about that?

He went to them and said he wanted to pitch to make amends for his shit start on Saturday. Remember when SS was pissed about Dyson quitting to have surgery that SS thought could be delayed a few years ago.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 3:34 pmcould have declined to pitch?...how would have that looked going into FA? I am confused, good for him for offering to pitch, what does that have to do with declining to pitch and the union having his back?
Re: 9/27 Game Thread - Mariners vs. A's
I am saying a different pitcher who just pitched Saturday and was going to be an FA next week could have said he wasn't ready to pitch and nobody would have blamed or criticized him for it. It makes what he is doing even more noble.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 4:33 pmI am confused, good for him for offering to pitch, what does that have to do with declining to pitch and the union having his back?
