Geno would be viewed as an upgrade? Enough of one to actually invest in?
He is at 1.6 WAR right now believe it or not. He is owed about $5M for the rest of this season and $11M next season and a $2M buy out for 2025 for a total of $18M. If we pay half then the new team is paying $9M for about 1 WAR for the rest of this season + 2 WAR next season so about 3 WAR for $9M.

The teams I mentioned all have sub 1 WAR guys at 3B so yeah must teams are willing to pay a few million for even a small upgrade. As crazy as it sounds. lol

Can't be this Walker with -0.9 WAR Right??? Right???

https://www.baseball-reference.com/play ... jo02.shtml
He's been worth -.9 WAR due to playing out of position in the field.

#4, #4, #2 ranked overall prospect heading into '23 by the scouting services.

If the M's were to trade for Gorman they'd almost certainly have to trade Geno.

Shouldn't be too hard to convince teams to trade for him. His D has been stellar.

Since June 20th he's hung 1.0 fWAR... over the same time JRam, Devers, Chapman have hung 1.1 fWAR. He's also posted a .930 OPS over that time.

"Dipoto conceded the M’s have “not really separated ourselves in a meaningful way to be aggressive on the buying end.” While he left open the potential for short-term additions, he noted they’ll use the next 11 days to evaluate if it’s “better to make a push for the ’23 season or to better situate ourselves for ’24.”

The next 10 days or so look really important. They get hot they could add impact. If not?
Sewald, Teo, Maybe even Gilbert

Great.

Can't wait for the next Abraham Toro to grace our lineup... "but he can play 14 positions!"

I would also sell Geno. If we can sell Flexen we can sell Geno. Pay half his salary.

Brewers, Marlins, Yankees and Phillies could all use an upgrade at 3B:

Who are they playing at 3rd if they were to trade Geno?

Schiener? Maybe they go after Chapman,

Saw this come up the M's may be interested in trading for the Metz:
One player that reportedly could find himself on the move is utility man Mark Canha and one interested club is the Seattle Mariners, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.

"Other teams have asked the Mets about the availability of Mark Canha, and a possible match might be with the Seattle Mariners," Olney said. "Seattle very familiar with Canha from his years in the AL West, and they pursued him in free agency two winters ago.

He has a 107 OPS+ this year but has averaged a 122 the last 6 years with a peak of 144 back in 2019. He is 35 so I imagine you should expect the under but he hit well in Oakland so he probably won't fall off a cliff. I imagine he is pretty cheap to get in prospect cost.

Scheiner could come up. He's played third

If Jerry had any balls he'd go after Arenado in a trade w. the Cards.

Trade 1: M's trade Paul Sewald and Teoscar Hernandez to the Rangers for AAA 2B Justin Foscue

Why? Foscue is a former top-100 prospect (as high as #50 on Baseball Prospectus in '22) who is hitting .274/.394/.489/.883 with 46 BB's to just 39 K's in AAA. He's blocked from entering the majors by Semien at 2B. M's can trade for him and call him up to play 2B right away. Rangers add to a struggling bullpen and replace Grossman as the DH/4th OF w. Teo.

Trade 2: M's trade Logan Gilbert, Geno Suarez to the Cardinals for 3B Nolan Arenado, IF Nolan Gorman, AA SP Tink Hence

Why? The M's have the pitching depth in their organization to sacrifice Gilbert in a trade. Kirby, Woo, Miller, Hancock is a great young 4 arms to roll with alongside Castillo, Ray, etc... in the starting rotation. M's add a perennial All Star in Arenado and his remaining contract. Nolan Gorman is moved to 1B where his power plays. Tink Hence is a 21 year old in AA who has dominated thus far in his career. A couple years away, the M's can afford to wait where the Cardinals maybe can't.

Trade 3: M's trade Ty France and Taylor Trammell to the Brewers for AA Util Tyler Black, IF Keston Hiura

Why? M's now need to room at 1B so France is gone. Brewers need ML bats at 1B/DH/OF in a BAD way right now. Black has a career .420 OBP in the minors... .420... my God. He's currently sporting a .286/.430/.528/.958 slash in AA. He can play both the infield and outfield. Hiura has been rotting in the Brewers AAA system all year despite hitting .314/.400/.572/.972.
