I would also sell Geno. If we can sell Flexen we can sell Geno. Pay half his salary.

Brewers, Marlins, Yankees and Phillies could all use an upgrade at 3B:

Who are they playing at 3rd if they were to trade Geno?
If Jerry had any balls he'd go after Arenado in a trade w. the Cards.
Dipoto said 'he doesn't expect to go after any Big Fish at the trade deadline."

That doesn't mean he won't, but it sounds like he's not actively pursuing. He went on to state that they are positioning themselves for 2024. Whatever that means.

Doesn't seem like we need anything but big fish.

We have enough role players. Enough utility players. Enough guys that can bat 5th or 6th in the lineup. We're missing the guys who should actually be hitting 3 and 4 in the lineup.

The depth is there. The impact is not. A guy like Mark Canha isn't going to do anything.

What we need is two impact players that between them can add 8 wins to the team.

The problem is our best players have been Caballero (5+ WAR pace) and Mike Ford (60 HR pace) and they're the two that Dipoto's dumbass will even consider replacing.

The season is over. Who cares.

Scheiner, Jake: .272/392/563/956 only a 22.6% K rate. Has played 50 games at 3B and has also played in both LF and RF. Should have came up instead of Marlowe and his sub .800 OPS.

Schiener? Maybe they go after Chapman,

Saw this come up the M's may be interested in trading for the Metz:
One player that reportedly could find himself on the move is utility man Mark Canha and one interested club is the Seattle Mariners, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.

"Other teams have asked the Mets about the availability of Mark Canha, and a possible match might be with the Seattle Mariners," Olney said. "Seattle very familiar with Canha from his years in the AL West, and they pursued him in free agency two winters ago.

He has a 107 OPS+ this year but has averaged a 122 the last 6 years with a peak of 144 back in 2019. He is 35 so I imagine you should expect the under but he hit well in Oakland so he probably won't fall off a cliff. I imagine he is pretty cheap to get in prospect cost.
   So another Pollock and a guy that Jerry will say he has wanted for 5 years when he was actually good. F-ing joke. lol

Seattle beat writer Daniel Kramer at MLB.com proposed this trade for Shohei Ohtani:
Mariners get: Shohei Ohtani, INF Brandon Drury, cash considerations

Angels get: RHP Logan Gilbert, C Harry Ford (Mariners No. 1 prospect, No. 25 overall), INF Cole Young (Mariners No. 2 prospect, No. 56 overall) RHP Emerson Hancock (Mariners No. 4 prospect), INF Michael Arroyo (Mariners No. 9 prospect)
https://www.mlb.com/news/shohei-ohtani- ... 9947058985

The Boston beat reporter proposed a trade of shortstop prospect Marcelo Mayer straight up for Ohtani. Mariner shortstop prospect Cole Young is not far behind Mayer, who is seven months older than Young. Kramer's proposal is a significant overpay.

According to Baseball Trade Values, the Mariners would have minor overpay even with Logan Gilbert removed from the proposal.

Would be the stupidest trade in the history of baseball and wouldn't even be close. A mediocre team with 10% odds of making the playoffs gives up one of its top two starters and guts the farm for a two month rental. Can't make it up.

How do guys like Kramer get paid money to write about baseball. Truly mind boggling.

He was asked by his boss to come up with a trade
We then asked the MLB.com writers covering those teams to make an educated guess as to what a return package might look like.

How about Wong for Ohtani because that is the only one that makes sense for a team with a 10% chance of making the playoffs. Or tell his boss to F off.
