Brooks has definitely not lived up to his potential. Still doesn't mean that I would've taken Queen over him. I wanted the 4 year starter. And still prefer it going forward. That being said, every now and then their are "outliers". WR Xavier Legette possibly being one of them this year. Hasn't done JACK until his final year in college. Now he's looking at a potential 1st or 2nd Round grade. Built like DK and AJ Brown.
What potential? He was a run stuffer that didn't cover or rush the passer!? Fantastic "potential" in today's NFL.

Sometimes a guy is a four year starter in college because he wasn't good enough to leave early!
The potential of being a 1st round draft pick. When I think of a prospect that has first round talent, it means he better be pretty friggin' special, considering we drafted Bobby in the 2nd round. As I said before, I didn't care for that draft. We needed defensive help, and I hated our picking spot.
Because we took him in the first, doesn't make him a first round talent. Most were shocked he was taken there.

Second round projection here.
Weaknesses
Failed to rise to the occasion against Oklahoma
Gassed in late second quarter by Sooners' pace
Loses his run fit at times when working around blocks
Needs to attack blocks aggressively to constrict run lanes
Finds himself blocked at times despite good reads
Needs to school up hands as pre-emptive weapons
Gets lost in space in zone drops
Lacks fluidity when asked to cover
What I find very odd about this list? Nothing about rushing the passer or his coverage skills. That was a knock I remember. By the way? Those things weren't listed as skills either. It's the NFL today, you need to effect the passing game if you are going to be worth a first round pick. I listen to Wyman go on and on about Queens' ability to show blitz and drop, his ability to cover, go sideline to sideline. Sorry, Brooks over Queen was a mistake, but even taking a middle backer was a mistake. Not in the first round.
Jordyn Brooks is projected as a Day 2 selection
Oklahoma’s Kenneth Murray, Patrick Queen of LSU, and Wisconsin’s Zack Baun are all potential targets for the Saints with the 24th pick in the 1st round
He wasn't projected as a first round pick, but like many times before, we had to have someone and didn't care that it was a reach. We even passed on a better player at the same position because "we are that smart". Penny over Chubb and Brooks over Queen? Just dumb, and their careers have shown that.
If us taking him in the first round means the guy was a first round pick? I will need some answers for
Rashaad Penny. Jermain Ifedi and LJ Collier. Even Bruce Irvin. Hell, we were so bad at it, we traded it away three straight years and four out of five. In the 15 drafts this regime has had, we traded away the first round pick five times. And due to a lack of success, most thought it was the right thing to do!
Yep, we took him in the first round. Nope, he wasn't projected as a first rounder. Nope, he hasn't played like one. How strange.
