The poll results suggest otherwise.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 4:04 pmReally, because a lot of people (here) seem to think Cole has no chance of ever doing anything in the majors. But if he currently has that much value trade him for something that can help the big league team now.

Just read the last few pages from the prospects thread. And i don't disagree with their assessment. But, if you can find some GM somewhere that thinks Cole has a bright future in MLB trade him asap.harmony wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 4:22 pmThe poll results suggest otherwise.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 4:04 pmReally, because a lot of people (here) seem to think Cole has no chance of ever doing anything in the majors. Re: Poll: trade idea
Just curious, what do see Cole doing in his MLB career (assuming he has one)? Maybe just his personality alone will make him more valuable than JK.Big_Maple wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 4:09 pmI would offer a trade for Kelenic in return for a cursed monkey paw, a VHS copy of Waterworld, and a raccoon with a gambling problem — because honestly, the raccoon might have better plate discipline.
Trading for Jared Kelenic is like digging your car out of a ditch, rebuilding the engine from scratch, and then—just as you're about to drive off safely—handing the keys back to the guy who drove it into the ditch blindfolded and drunk while blasting Nickelback and shouting, “Trust the process!”
This would be the baseball equivalent of re-buying the scratchy sweater you donated to Goodwill last year. Unless Kelenic shows up with a new swing and a therapist, this move feels less like a savvy front office decision and more like baseball Stockholm syndrome.
Re: Poll: trade idea
Maybe suggest trading Cole for anyone else. Do the Rockies or White Sox or some other bad team have a AAAA type outfielder that we could use?
I'd rather get Haniger off his couch than see Kelenic in a Mariners uniform again.

So Seitzer and assistant worked with Atlanta last year therefor with JK, no help. You don’t think Edgar who has been with Org before JK came has never provided any advice to him.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 3:58 pmDidn't realize Edgar worked for the Braves last year.desbcoach wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 3:07 pmThe guy is a clown and not fixable. Kelenic may still be fixable (with the new coaches) and brings the D in the outfield where the Ms are shorthanded.

Kidding aside, I was more reacting to the idea of Toxic Kelenic returning to the Mariners than I was to the idea of trading Cole.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 4:29 pmJust curious, what do see Cole doing in his MLB career (assuming he has one)? I was actually upset that the M's didn't manufacture offense and depth in the offseason - either by pursuing FA or by orchestrating trades. The former was never going to happen given our stingy FO, but I think we dropped the ball on the latter. We have one of the better farm systems in baseball, and we could have traded away a few pieces to get something to bolster our offense. you're right that Cole does not seem to have a clear path to the majors with the M's, and has could have been traded (and still can be traded) for something more useful. What that looks like, I don't know. But not Kelenic, IMHO.
I'm sure you saw the brouhaha when Acuna called out Snitker for not benching Kelenic for his lack of hustle (getting thrown out at second on a hit that Kelenic thought was a home run). He hasn't grown up, and he hasn't become a better baseball player. He flamed out in AAA.
But - after all is said and done, I am more than a little impressed by how some of our prospects have stepped it up during the injury-plagued start to the season so far. So call me wrong about our depth - the young kids have been proving their worth. But I'd still prefer to get a solid 1B, and longer term answer to DH and 3B, though.
Re: Poll: trade idea
Guessing that trade value will come down significantly once they update it based on his horrid start.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 4:04 pmReally, because a lot of people (here) seem to think Cole has no chance of ever doing anything in the majors. You can think Cole isn't going to amount to much AND never want JK 1000 Miles from Seattle ever again.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 4:26 pmJust read the last few pages from the prospects thread. Young is a great example why you trade prospects when you have the chance. If he doesn't turn it around very soon he will have almost no value at the trade deadline.
