Why do you care how they make their outs?

When you make outs like Geno, strikeouts definitely matter. If he hit like Cal, I could care less what his strikeouts are. But he couldn't.

Can you articulate how they definitely matter?

Polanco had a banner year and his bat will really be felt this year. That’s the one I will miss. Geno was a major disappointment and he turned into mush and hurt us

Perhaps what the problem really is a lack of plate discipline when you need to give yourself up. We left a lot of guys on third with less than two outs when essentially all we needed to do was put the ball in play. Oversimplification but they are pros.

Geno sucked for us last year. .189 AVG .682 OPS and a 0.3 WAR in 53 games
We are not "worse for losing him.
Williamson and Emerson can match that production easily.
