Team that should stick to baseball 2
Team that should stick to cricket 0
The second goal just proves the point how absolutely f****** ridiculous offsides is
The game would be ridiculous without offsides. It's a critical rule for the game. As critical as not being able to use your hands.
Same thing in hockey.
Wasn't going to jump in on the offside debate for the umpteenth time, and DV is right—without it, you'd just have a 6-foot-4 striker camping out next to the keeper all game waiting for a long ball. But think of it like this: every sport evolves its rules over the years, and they all look entirely stupid to the uninitiated.
Why is baseball 4 balls and 3 strikes? Why not just make it 2 balls and 2 strikes to save everyone from pissing around forever? Why do you have to drop a wooden bat after hitting a ball, but if you carry it to first base you're out?
And American Football? It's a sport called "football" where players exclusively handle and throw the ball, and the only time a foot actually touches the thing is for about four seconds a game to kick a field goal or a punt.
Every single sport is inherently ridiculous when you take it down to that granular level. You just accept the quirks because that's what makes the game work. Every rule in every game was introduced for a good reason, or at least good intention.
