You're choosing a confrontational view. Not good for moving forward, great for staying stuck in our current rut.
Number one way to agitate a conservative is to call them racist.
Number one way to agitate a liberal is to call them lazy.
Why?

When you contrast UBI versus the current welfare system, the benefits become even more clear.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2020 7:14 pmI haven't seen the supposed results you attribute to Yang's plan coming out of the welfare system. It didn't have a positive cultural impact and encouraged destructive things like children born to unmarried parents. It was great at creating dependency on government, though, and securing votes for the party that pushed it.

And of course the $3 trillion per year is all going to be paid for by the massive economic growth it would spark. "UBI encourages people to find work. Many current welfare programs take away benefits when recipients find work, sometimes leaving them financially worse off than before they were employed. UBI is for all adults, regardless of employment status, so recipients are free to seek additional income, which most everyone does."
"UBI increases entrepreneurship because it provides for basic needs in the early lean days of a company and acts as a safety net if the business fails. It also gives you more consumers to sell to because everyone has more disposable income. The Roosevelt Institute found that a UBI would create 4.6 million jobs and grow the economy by 12 percent continuously. UBI would be the greatest catalyst for new jobs, entrepreneurship, and creativity we have ever seen."
The reason conservatives and capitalists are more open to UBI versus other programs is because everyone gets it. Sure, $12k will help you a lot more if you're unemployed. But, even someone making a high salary can still use the $12k for something, whereas basically ALL other programs have stipulations like you must be a student or broke or disabled. The other programs also carry high administrative costs where UBI has extremely low administrative costs.
We're on our way out of a rut caused by a reverse-racist president THANKS to Trump. Our police will again become revered. Our government, in the end, will be able to be trusted again. No thanks to the divisive liberals, same ones who rip up speeches and delay important policy like the angry geriatric douchnozzles that they are.DanielVogelbach wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2020 4:18 pmYou're choosing a confrontational view. You're stuck in that Us vs. Them dichotomy. I've been there before.bpj wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2020 8:18 pm

The only thing not going liberals way is Trump is taking away food stamps for bums who refuse to work, taking away endless unemployment benefits from the same bums. GET A JOB YA BUM.
THAT'S where a universal income will come from. Nobody should "not have a job" because you need to earn what you eat and where you sleep.
If not, the woods and sidewalks are calling your name. Right where they deserve.
