This is what you are getting.
Mariners Select Jhonathan Díaz
By Darragh McDonald | at August 19, 2026 5:05pm CDT
The Mariners announced that they have selected the contract of left-hander Jhonathan Díaz. Fellow lefty Josh Simpson has been optioned to Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding active roster move. To open a 40-man spot, infielder/outfielder Luke Raley has been transferred to the 60-day injured list. Raley underwent season-ending flexor surgery earlier this month.
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!

Oh I'm dumb... Haven't been paying much attention. Matt Brash is the right handed arm they need. I didn't realize he was out. Makes sense. That's why we're dealing with wild man Dominguez in such high leverage spots.rockycola wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2026 2:44 amThis is what you are getting.

They're still in the thick of things.
Jeremy Pena took a 100 MPH heater off his knuckles and came out of the game. He'll probably be fine but maybe he misses a few games.

Brash? I just looked it up. He's coming back soon. He says he feels good. Rehab stint forthcoming. Late August / Early September return.
“I feel like I'm over that hump and I'm throwing every day, and I feel good,” Brash said. “I don't feel sore the next day. Like, I'm good to go. So, just kind of hitting those points and getting those gains in before I'm actually back. It'll take a little bit of time, but I feel good.”

Wild Card standings are truly wild.
Mariners have so many tough games ahead of them. One more Milwaukee, then Cubs, then Phillies. Then at Toronto and at Boston. September looks softer.
The offense is not a juggernaut, but I think having Brock and Donavan is a clear upgrade over where they were. Getting JP back will be good too.
I still feel like this whole season in a nutshell comes down to Cal hitting .156. Dan Wilson and Jerry Dipoto would be looking a lot better if Cal could figure out how to square up a baseball. He's gone from being the scariest hitter in the lineup to an automatic out.

What the fuck are you even talking about. Fucking word salad there to say jack and shit. They are so concerned about building the Farm System, and YOU even admit that is to win at the Big League level. They have gone to the playoffs two fucking times since 2001. How in the fuck is that winning at the Big League level? My point is very clear. They care about building a Farm, celebrating the Farm, and being just good enough to sell tickets. But winning at the Major League level, REALLY winning, has never been the objective, and never will.DanielVogelbach wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2026 12:54 amMichael K serving up straw man specials.Michael K. wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2026 9:24 pmSo, the purpose was to make the playoffs twice? Got it. What a smashing success.DanielVogelbach wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2026 8:46 pmThere is no such thing as a good farm system that you can't "utilize to win in the major leagues". That's the exact purpose of it.
Jerry doesn't keep his job as long as he has if winning at this level was the goal. Build the Farm, make money. Do it over and over again, make promises and sell tickets.
You can buy into the bullshit all you want, but how the fuck is me pointing out that the Farm System they have built has only resulted in two trips the playoffs a fucking Straw Man. You are so fucking annoying dude. I'm better off this way.
